Bill 26 (2014), to enable the Council to establish exemptions to Water System Development Fees in the annual budget, will be considered for second and final reading at the April 22 Council meeting.
Also up for second and final reading are Bill 24, which would ban tobacco use in parks and beaches, and Bill 25, which would grant a permit for an artist’s business in Hana.
Up for first reading are bills to add “Hawaiian outrigger canoeing” to the definition of “ocean recreational activity,” to rename a field at Makawao’s Eddie Tam Complex in honor of William “Blee” Amoral Sr. and to adopt the Maui Island Plan’s Implementation Program.
The Council will also review water use reports from Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company and Maui Land & Pineapple Company.
Councilmember Don S. Guzman will submit a report on “Electric Utilities: The Future is Not What it Used to Be,” an educational conference held last month. He has also transmitted a bill to rename the Kahului Pool after Coach Spencer Shiraishi.
The Hawaii State Association of Counties budget will be considered via a resolution from Councilmember Michael P. Victorino.
Testimony may be submitted to email@example.com.
