Office of the County Clerk – Elections Division
The Elections Division of the Office of the County Clerk is responsible for the elections in the County of Maui and the County of Kalawao. It assists the State Office of Elections in meeting all Federal, State, and County election requirements and in the implementation of programs to increase voter registration and participation.

Court Order Delays Candidate Filing for U.S. Representative, State Senator and State Representative Offices
Pearl City, February 28, 2022 – The State of Hawaii Supreme Court issued a court order temporarily suspending candidate filing for the offices of U.S. Representative, State Senate, and State Representative contests until further notice from the court. The order arises from a challenge of the 2021 State Reapportionment Plan.
Candidate filing will open as scheduled beginning March 1 for the following offices:
U.S. Senate
Governor
Lieutenant Governor
Office of Hawaiian Affairs Trustee, Hawaii Resident Trustee, vacancy
Office of Hawaiian Affairs Trustee, Maui Resident Trustee
Office of Hawaiian Affairs Trustee, Oahu Resident Trustee
Office of Hawaiian Affairs Trustee, At-Large
County of Hawaii, Councilmember
County of Maui, Mayor
County of Maui, Councilmember
County of Kauai, Mayor
County of Kauai, Councilmember
City & County of Honolulu, Councilmember
Interested candidates for these offices may obtain nomination papers to file for office. For a list of locations and qualifications, visit elections.hawaii.gov.

Voter Registration
The last day to submit paper Voter Registration Applications for the 2022 Primary Election is August 3, 2022. People eligible to vote in the State of Hawaii may register to vote or update their voter registration online at https://olvr.hawaii.gov/.
You may also submit a paper voter registration form to the Office of the County Clerk in person or by mail. You may mail the form to:

If you will be away from your registered mailing address and require your ballot to be delivered to an alternate address for a specific election or an election cycle, you may submit a one-time absentee application.
