WAILUKU, HI – A bill to prohibit smoking at county bus stops will be considered by the Housing, Human Services and Transportation Committee on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 1:30 p.m., Committee Chair Stacy Crivello announced today.

The bill was introduced by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Michael P. Victorino.

“If we want to enhance our public transportation system and encourage more users, this is the right thing to do,” Crivello said. “We’re not only considering health, public safety and the environment, but this proposal promotes respect for each other.”

The bill would prohibit smoking 20 feet around bus shelters and bus stop signs.
